Peer Mentoring Program

Information about the STEM Peer Mentoring Program

Welcome!

As a part of the research project that generated this resource website, we spoke to Centre alumni from the last fifteen years who graduated with a major in a STEM field (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). Across the board, some of the most common themes in the interviews were how instrumental mentors and peers were in their success at Centre and beyond. We hope this program will allow first-year and sophomores who intend to major in a STEM discipline a chance to gain a support system, comradery within STEM at Centre, and gain a perspective on what the later years of those majors look like.

2021-2022 was our pilot year, so congratulations and thank you to those of you who helped us make a little piece of history! The program involved monthly group meetings during common hour (11:30-12:30) the third Thursday of each month, as well as the expectation that individual mentor/mentee pairs will meet once outside of that meeting each month.

Due to all three faculty mentors (Drs. Swanson, Murray, and Fulfer) being off campus for various parts of the 2022-2023 academic year this mentoring program will be on hiatus. However, we’d LOVE to know if you’re interested in this going forward. Please use the Google form link below to indicate your interest and any recommendations you have.
