The 1886-87 Centre College Annual Catalogue lists the Ormond Beatty Senior Prize as “… founded by the Alumni of the College in 1886, to signalize the completion of President Beatty’s fifty years in the service of his Alma Mater. For the current session, this prize will be awarded to the student of the Senior class having the best record for scholarship, department, and punctuality.” Today the prize is awarded to a senior with a distinguished record.
