Alpha Delta Pi holds the distinction of being the first secret society in the world for college women, founded on May 15, 1851, at Wesleyan Female College in Macon, Georgia. The original name of the sorority was The Adelphean Society. The word Adelphean is derived from the Greek word meaning sister. In 1904 the Adelphean Society became a national sorority and in 1913 adopted the Greek letters Alpha Delta Pi.
The Eta Omega Chapter of Alpha Delta Pi was installed at Centre College on March 25, 2000. Twenty-two women joined in the fall of 1999, and were joined by thirty women during winter formal recruitment to comprise the chapter’s 53 charter members.
Alpha Delta Pi is committed to sisterhood, values and ethics, high academic standards, and social responsibility. We strive to be leaders among our peers through embodying one of our mottos, “Be the first.” ADPi provides a place of comfort, sincerity, and togetherness through the bond of sisterhood.
Alpha Delta Pi’s international philanthropy is Ronald McDonald House Charities. The Eta Omega chapter hosts semesterly fundraisers for Ronald McDonald House of the Bluegrass, located in Lexington, Kentucky
